Willy Wonka Jr. Auditions
Auditions: June 8th, 2026 @6:00pm-8:30pm
$369 Registration fee; multi-child discount applied at checkout
-Auditions will be at 380 Rivertown Drive, Suite 200 in Woodbury. Rehearsals will be at The Black Box Theater, Door 7, East Ridge High School in Woodbury. Performances are all matinees, the last weekend in July and first weekend in August at The Loft at East Ridge High School in Woodbury. Unless enough kids audition for a double cast, kids will need to be available for all performances and technical rehearsals.
Rehearsals: Mon through Thurs June 15 through July; 6-8:30pm
Load in (with parents) July 6-10;
Tech Rehearsals: July 13-17, 6-9pm;
Performances at 2pm July 18-19; 25-26
This show is also seeking: Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager, Set Designer, Sound Designer, Lighting Designer, Costume Coordinator, Production Assistant, Board Operators, Ushers, Box Office and Concessions Personnel. Page to Stage New Play Festival – Readings the last 2 weekends in February, 2027
If you’re looking to get back into theater without giving up 8 weeks of evenings, this is it. Re-ignite your love of theater and remember why you loved it in the first place!
Auditions: November 14, 2026. Callbacks November 21, 2026 – Auditions are open to Men and Women. No registration fee. Rehearsals will be 2 evenings per week in January and February.
- If all audition appointments are full, show up early, and we will fit you into a no-show slot. We generally have about 1/3 no-shows.
- Please bring 2 contrasting monologues that are 1-2 minutes in length. They need not be memorized – reading is okay since the audition is for a reading.

Available production slots:
Outdoor “In the Park” productions for the summer of 2026. Rehearsing May-June for performances in June in parks throughout Washington County. Script must be 90 minutes or less, and be doable without technical support for an outdoor show.
Kids’ Fall Show 2026 for actors ages 5-9 (Rated-G) -Sept-Mid-Oct rehearsals; Load In Oct 12; Tech Oct 13 & 15, Performances at 1pm the last 2 weekends in October. Must be 20-30 minutes in length with a flexible cast of early and non-readers. Rehearsals are Saturday mornings only 9:30-11:30am. All kids who audition are cast, so script must allow for flexibility.
Family Holiday Comedy 2026 (G, PG) – Oct 15-Nov rehearsals; Load in last week in November; Tech 1st week in December; Performances the first two weekends in December.
Adult Comedy March 2027 (G, PG, or R) – Jan 15-Mar rehearsals; Load In 2nd week in March; Tech 3rd week in March, Performances at 2pm the last 2 weekends in March.
Kids’ Spring Show 2027 for actors ages 5-9 (Rated-G) -Feb-April rehearsals on Saturday mornings only from 9:30-11:30am; Load In 2nd week in April; Tech 3rd week in April, Performances at 1pm the last weekend in April and the first weekend in May. Must be 20-30 minutes in length with a flexible cast of early and non-readers.
To submit a proposal, send your list of up to 3 plays per available production slots, along with a 3 sentence synopsis and 3 sentences about the director concept, along with a resume, 3 references and a cover letter to Barbe@merrillartscenter.org.
