Thursdays After School 2nd – 8th Grade
$109 – Register multiple kids at once for $99 each
- Taught by Dayna Railton, Artistic Director of The Play’s The Thing Children’s Theatre Company.
- Kids work together to bring a short play to life in a fun-filled setting.
- We will learn the basic vocabulary of theatre, memorize lines, and put on a short wardrobe-style performance for a small audience of parents and invited guests.
- 3:50pm – 4:00pm : Snack (bring a snack & water bottle)
- 4:00pm – 5:00pm : Theatre games, dramatic arts training, script work
- Term ending in a performance of an abbreviated play for invited audience.

Wednesdays After School 2nd – 8th Grade
$139 – Register multiple kids at once for $129 each
- Taught by Thomas D. Nelson, owner of Big Blue Theatre and chess enthusiast.
- Chess was originally designed by tutors to teach kings strategic thinking and logic. Story Time Chess curriculum uses the original technique of looking at each piece as a theatrical character.
- Chess is taught in a fun, engaging way that captivates kids. Multiple studies have shown that kids who play chess do better at math.
- Get your kids hooked on chess! Each kid gets their own Story Time Chess set to take home at the end of the term.
- 3:50pm – 4:00pm : Snack (bring a snack & water bottle)
- 4:00pm – 5:00pm : Learn and play chess
Sep. 18th, 25th; Oct. 2nd, 9th (NOT 16th), 23rd, 30th; Nov. 6th, 13th, 20th (NOT 27th); Dec. 4th (Each student gets to take home their own Story Time Chess set on Dec. 4th).

ARTS GRANTS REVIEW PANELISTS WANTED: The Minnesota State Arts Board is looking for application review panel members for their FY24 Creative Individuals and Arts Experiences programs. These review periods and panel meetings take place somewhere between mid-October through January (you do not need to be available this entire period, just some portion of it). Reviewers receive a stipend of $200, get a close look at the Arts Board grantmaking process, learn and improve grant writing skills, and play a meaningful role in our state’s public funding system for the arts.
